MARI/CCPO Seminar Series

Functional Network Dependency Analysis Towards Resilience

Ariel Pinto, Department of Engineering Management and Systems Engineering, Old Dominion University

This seminar will describe how network-based functional modeling currently used to describe dependencies when designing, building, and managing engineered systems can be used in adaptation to climate change and sea-level rise (CCSLR). Functional modeling may be one way to affect resilience by providing both graphical and numerical insights on how and why system-of-systems work, including resilience to events brought by CCSLR. On-going research and possible applications of this modeling approach for entrepreneurs towards resilient and more robust business operation will also be highlighted.
